Here are a few videos from the last few days…
Lovely Day!
Today was a gorgeous day. We got an early start because Vavia was coughing all night. So we took her to the doctor this morning to make sure it was not anything to worry about. She has been sick on and off for the past couple of weeks. She was such an angel at the doctor’s office. She let them check her heartbeat, her ears and a little more hesitantly, her throat. She was very cooperative.
After the doctor, we stopped and grabbed a light breakfast before dropping Vavia off at my parent’s house. Right before we went there, I had promised Vavia that if she went to Grandma’s, when she got home, she would have a new bike. Rich bought a new bike a couple of days ago and ever since then, Vavia has been wanting one too. Funny how kids interpret things though. We pulled up at mom’s and Vavia jumped out of the car very excited. I knew something wasn’t right. When mom opened the door, Vavia immediately said, “Where’s my bike?” She was under the impression that Grandma and Grandpa had it! I assured her she would have it when she got home. I run a book meetup group and today was one of our meetups. We saw the new “Alice in Wonderland” directed by Tim Burton and then afterwards went to Plum’s Upper Room to discuss the book vs. the film. It was a good turnout. We had 9 people total show and everyone had something different to offer. It was nice, but I was really looking forward to picking up Vavia.
After we picked her up from mom and dad’s, we came home and Rich put her bike together. She was so excited when she saw it. She said, “Wooowwww, Mom, it’s so cute” and “I like my bike”. I think at one point she even said, “I really love my bike” to Rich. Too cute. She could not stop smiling the whole time he was putting it together and while she was playing with it. She kept staring at all the little parts with a big smile. She was just admiring it and loving it.
Here are some photos, including some from the other day when we painted!

Rotten Princess & Anticipating a New Career
I woke up today and watched “Sleeping Beauty” with Vavia. The scene where they are getting ready for Aurora’s 16th birthday and the good fairies are making cake came on and Vavia started asking for cake. She had been sick for a couple of days and had just started to get an appetite back and I thought it would be fun to make her some cake pops. So I got up bright and early and headed over to Ms. B’s Sweet Supplies and bought some lollipop sticks, candy melts and edible ink. I then came home and made these yummy treats.
Later, we took her to the mall and she had a great time. It’s always stressful taking her to public places, for me anyway. She tends to not listen to direction very well in large crowds, especially when children are present. But, she was good overall. I think mom just needs to relax a bit and let her be a kid. We first hit Claire’s boutique and bought a new princess tutu for Vavia. Her others were getting a bit raggedy and they are fairly inexpensive at Claire’s. We then ended up at the Disney store where Vavia really had a blast. She’s such a social girl and immediately made some friends while we were there. She also wanted just about everything, including as many Nemos as she could possibly drag off the shelves…giant Nemos…$40 giant Nemos! So we somehow diverted her attention to the more reasonably priced toys and let her choose between a smaller Nemo or two “princesses”. She chose the latter and so we ended up with Sleeping Beauty (or Sleeping Judy as she says…her fave these days) and Pocahontas, which she has yet to see. She was so excited when we came home to play. I think she had a great day.
In other news, I start my new career on Monday and I am so excited to be getting back into my field of choice in my preferred industry. I am going to be doing Project Management for a local software company and the best thing of all is, this is a permanent job, which is VERY hard to find in the technical industry, especially these days. So I am really hoping all goes well and I am very excited to get back to a solid career! It’s going to be a bit of transition dressing up for work again, but I am really looking forward to it. Things were too casual at my last couple of jobs.
