Garage Sale Fun

We decided to have a garage sale this weekend to get rid of some excess stuff that we had around the house. It wasn’t too bad. I think we didn’t have a lot of small items, mostly bigger ticket items, which are a little harder to get rid of at garage sales, but it also meant we didn’t have to sell much to make a decent amount of money over the weekend.

Vavia woke up with us and hung out in the garage and in the yard with us during the sale. She was very cute, announcing the arrival of new customers, and yelling at children who touched her old toys. We had a good time playing with her new Princess matching game and her Elefun that her Grandma and Grandpa Joseph gave her last Christmas.

Also, in the last three days Vavia has used the potty. Not all day, but she is starting to tell us she needs to go and actually going in the potty instead of her diaper! I am sure she would be potty trained by now if it wasn’t for both of us having full-time jobs. It’s tough being consistent when she goes to a couple of different places during the weekdays. But I’m proud of her! She was excited and we celebrated her pottying with ice cream!

She was also challenging this weekend. She’s always a picky eater but today I’d be surprised if she got one full meal in her belly all day.

Here are some snaps of her from today’s garage sale. I’m wondering why anyone did not warn me that she would be absolutely gorgeous and that I was going to be in trouble for the next 18 years…or well, for the rest of my life, I suppose.

Meet Coco & Chanel

Coco & Chanel are our new siamese kittens! Coco is a seal point siamese and Chanel is a flame point. They are both about 8 weeks old and they both have striking blue eyes, though Chanel’s slightly cross-eyed. We decided to get kittens for a few reasons.

For one, we missed have pets in the house. We, being Rich and myself. Vavia did too, but we didn’t get the kittens for her. Although, she was so excited that we did get kittens. We considered getting a small dog, but overall know that our lifestyle is not suited for dogs. When we decided to get a kitten, we ended up with two, because we felt they would keep each other company while we were at work. It’s not really that much more work with two cats.

So far, they are fitting right in at home. They know to use the litterbox and they are eating dry food. They are both pretty playful and sweet, though Chanel is definitely the lover. She loves to snuggle and be held. Coco comes around but for the most part, is more to herself and to Chanel.

Fun Times

We were given a piano by our dear friends Ron & Becky. It was such a generous gift and we actually had the perfect place for it. After getting it into the house yesterday with my brother’s help, Vavia sat down immediately to start showing her piano skills. I think when she gets a little older, we might invest in some lessons for her.

Last night, we went out to a friend’s birthday party. I’ve known The Mitch since I was about 10 years old. He was friends with my brother and so I went on several fishing trips with the guy and then also ended up working with him for a few years. We’ve remained friends through the years, but I had not seen him since his wedding in 2005. It was really nice to see him last night with his beautiful wife, Carolyn. They are expecting a baby in January! So excited for them.

We had a lot of fun hanging out with old friends.

Vavia apparently had a good time at home with her sitters. They are the daughters of Vavia’s former daycare provider, and our friend, Felicia. Vavia loves the girls.
